Tonyia Johnson is an attorney at Shamis & Gentile, P.A., where she practices in the firm’s Class Action department. Tonyia focuses her practice on protecting the rights of consumers nationwide and takes pride in advocating for individuals impacted by deceptive and unfair business practices. She plays an integral role in a wide range of complex litigation matters, including insurance disputes, consumer fraud, and data privacy violations.
Tonyia is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. Tonyia received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami, where she pursued a double major in Political Science and Sports Administration, and graduated with honors. She then earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, where she was recognized as a Dean’s Merit Scholar and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Ethics and Genomic Medicine.
During law school, Tonyia clerked with Shamis & Gentile, P.A., gaining valuable hands-on experience in consumer protection and class action litigation. She now brings that foundation into her daily practice, approaching each case with a strong work ethic and a commitment to working with her team to deliver meaningful results for clients.
Outside of her legal work, Tonyia enjoys exploring Miami’s food scene, working out, and painting.
